Abstract
It is beyond question that Japanese encephalitis virus infected mosquitoes inoculate virus by bite into skin who has antibodies against JEV by previousin endemic areas of JE, such as in Korea.
Anamnestic antibody response to JEY was studied during pre- and post-epidemic seasons of 1960 and1961 in adult of Seoul.
Results showed;
1. About 35% of 247 adult had demonstrable hemagglutination-inhibition (Hl) antibody to Japanese encephalitis virus.
2. Hemagglutination-inhition antibody levels agast JEV were low and most of them showed less than titer of 40.
3. Three out of 247 adult showed anamnestic Hlanti body responses to JEV during JE epidemic seasorns.
It can be concluded that a part of residents living in JE endemic areas seems to maintain antibody levels to JEV by mechanisms of anamnestic antibodyresponse in every epidemic season.
